About Me
Struggling with financial challenges growing up led me to study finance and work as a financial analyst for 20 years. Now, I use my expertise to help others achieve financial freedom by eliminating debt, budgeting, and investing.
Growing up, money was always a source of stress in my family. My parents worked multiple jobs but struggled to make ends meet. This motivated me to study finance in college. I didn’t want to struggle the way my parents did. Once I graduated and started working full-time my personal relationship with money was a bumpy one; I had alot of the same money issues my parents had. Between trying to pay off my student loans and credit cards, having money to fix my car and save for retirement, it felt like I was working all the time but stuck with nothing to show for it. Even when I thought I was on the right track, life would throw me a curveball. One moment I was getting laid off from my job, the next a family emergency I tried to help with put me in debt and wrecked my finances. I tried to understand… what was I doing wrong? Why was I having the same money problems I saw growing up? How could I break this never-ending cycle and achieve financial freedom?
During my career 20-year career as a financial analyst for several banking companies I helped to manage the personal and business finances of business owners, executives, athletes, and entertainers. Working with them gave me a front row seat on how they managed their money. I learned insider secrets on how they budgeted and spent their money, how they managed debt, and what investments they made to become wealthy and live fulfilling lives that we all dream about. It was these insider tips that helped me when I faced my own financial problems. That insight taught me how to budget, pay off debt, and start investing so I could stop working for money and make money work for me!
In 2020, many people I knew went through severe financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of them lost their jobs, some got sick and were unable to work, or lost family members to the virus and were crushed by end of life costs. When they asked me to help them alleviate some of the financial stress the pandemic was causing them, I was happy to do it. Having experienced job loss and health issues in the past (once upon a time I had no medical insurance and had to live off my savings and credit cards), I understood firsthand the stress and anxiety they were feeling.
At the end of 2020 and beginning of 2021, I worked to help them revise their budgets, taught them how to use their savings and unemployment benefits to cover living expenses, utilize cash from the student loan deferment to pay down their credit cards and medical expenses, and help them begin to invest so their money was working for them. It was my way of using my experience and insider tips to help make a positive change in the lives of others during a time when we all faced so much uncertainty.
The experience made me passionate about wanting to use my knowledge and career experience to help more people achieve the financial freedom they deserved. That is when I created GoodWill Financial Solutions. My mission is to help people stop living paycheck to paycheck, eliminate their debt, and share investment basics so they don’t spend time stressing over money and instead spend more time living more fulfilling lives with their family and friends.
